GUNMEN on Sunday burnt the Orsu Local Government Area headquarters situated in Awo-Idemili community in Imo State.
A source, who did not want his name in print, told our correspondent that many buildings, including the chairman’s office and administrative block as well as parked vehicles were razed.
“Orsu is a no-go area for youths, especially young men, because of the activities of unknown gunmen in the area,” the source said.
The spokesman of the state police command, Michael Abattam, said he had no information on the incident as of the time our correspondent contacted him.
“Officially, I don’t know about it for now, but let me confirm from the DPO in Orsu,” he said.
The PUNCH reported that on Friday, the country home of the state Commissioner for Labour, Employment and Productivity, Ford Ozumba, was razed.
Last year, houses of the member representing Orsu in the state House of Assembly, Ekene Nnodimele; and the state Commissioner for Justice, Cyprian Akaolisa, among others, were burnt.
