Popular singer, Omawumi Megbele; broadcaster and publisher, Adesuwa Onyenokwe; comedian, Akpororo; actors, Odunlade Adekola and Tony Umez; and Canada-trained actress, Nengi Adoki, are some of the personalities that will entertain audiences in the soon-to-be-released movie titled, Chatroom, from April 15, 2022, when it will be released on digital platform, afrocinema.tv.
The film, which was privately screened to members of the press was inspired by true life events.
Set in Lagos, Nigeria, it tells the gritty, yet inspiring story of Ebiere (Nengi Adoki), an almost down and out young lady in her mid-twenties who finds an opportunity to be on a popular dance reality TV show as an opening for her to get away from the haunting ghost of her past. The reality show however takes an unexpected turn when she is triggered to face her past trauma. Laced with comedy, romance and power tussles, it is a story of overcoming and finding one’s voice and inspired by true life events.
Written and directed by Chike Ibekwe, it is a contemporary 98-minute drama that will take audiences on a roller coaster of emotions and leave them at the edges of their seats.
Other actors in the movie include Sambasa Nzeribe, Ronya Man, Rykardo Agbor, Vivian Anani, Kobby Acheampong, Lea Dibebe and Damilare Kuku.
