Rescue us from piracy, Anambra entertainers beg Soludo

The Chairman, Board of Trustees, Association of Music, Film Producers and Marketers of Nigeria, Chief Ubaoha Uzoma, has called on the Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, to rescue them from piracy.

Speaking in Onitsha, Anambra State, during the week, Uzoma said the association battled piracy for 24 years without success because of the inability of the three tiers of government to provide the enabling environment.

He said, “Pirating products is worse than armed robbery. In saner climes, you cannot copy another person’s work without permission. Here, they don’t see it as a crime.”

Pleading with the governor to come to their aid, he said, “The entertainment industry is the highest employer of labour.

“Soludo is God-sent to Anambra and I hope he will put a stop to piracy. Most youths die with their talents. Instead of wasting their talents, they should be assisted to pursue their destinies in the entertainment industry, as we assist them to utilise their God-giving talents.

He expressed optimism that the association would work in synergy with Governor Soludo’s administration for the betterment of the youth, who according to him, ‘indulge in consumption of methamphetamine (Mkpulummili) because of lack of employment’.Copyright PUNCH.
