My strong values keep me from controversies, says Stephanie Coker-Aderinokun

Actress and television host, Stephanie Coker-Aderinokun, says she avoids controversies by keeping intimate matters private.

In an interview with Sunday Scoop, she said, “I am an open person but I am also quite private about intimate things. Besides, I know the right time for certain things and I don’t want interference from people.

“I have always stayed away from certain activities because I have really high values. I believe that has kept me from certain controversies.”

Coker-Aderinokun also stated that she considered acting more taxing than being a TV host. She said, “Acting is more challenging than being a television host because I am literally being myself as a television host. It comes naturally to me. However, I have taken some courses to enhance my craft.

“On the other hand, acting is challenging because I cannot necessarily be myself. I have to take on other people’s emotions while becoming someone else. But, I find it very rewarding, especially when I am able to get into character and really bring those emotions to life.”

Speaking on her latest projects, she said, “My latest project is the children’s book I wrote titled, Ariella and the Talking Drum, and it is for ages 0 – 8 years. It was inspired by my daughter. It is very dear to my heart because it teaches children the importance of contentment. It also showcases our rich African culture, especially that of the Yorubas in Lagos and Ogun states.

“Another project is my female-orientated podcast discussing all different topics that affect women.

Highlighting the ways motherhood and marriage have changed her, she said, “Motherhood has made me more patient because children are just children, and they love to test one’s patience.

“For marriage, it is basically about compromise. I am a bit more open to hearing the other person’s sides, feelings, opinions or reasoning.”

Coker-Aderinokun also stated that she desires to create ‘really good’ content in the film, documentary and fashion space. I love Hollywood, and I want to go down as one of the greatest TV hosts ever.”
